People says heaven lies in India, that is, Kasmir. But have you heard about Munsiyari? Munsiyari translates to ‘place with snow’ and is often referred to as ‘Mini Kashmir’. This hill station offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas and is situated at an altitude of 2298 meters, on the banks of river Gorigana. Munsiyari is the base station for treks to Millam Glaciers, Ralam, and Namik Glaciers.
Munsiyari remains pleasant during summers but light woolens are required, as nights are a bit chilly. You can also visit during winters to enjoy snow capped mountains and try skiing, and enjoy mesmerizing views.It is probably the best time to visit Munsiyari.
This place is mostly inhabited by the Shauka tribe, one should explore their villages to learn about their customs and cultures.
This paradise is surrounded by the majestic Himalayas, flourishing flora and fauna, beautiful lakes and is the base of Namik glacier, Ralam, and Milam glacier.
As per Hindu mythology, Pandavas of Mahabharata commenced their final journey to heaven from Munsiyari itself. This place is worth visiting.
